Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Cardiologist to join our growing outpatient and inpatient cardiac practice in Tacoma, Washington. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive pediatric cardiology care while being supported by a nationally recognized academic medical center. The physician will evaluate, diagnose, and treat children and adolescents with congenital or acquired heart disease, serving patients across the South Sound region. This position combines community engagement, program development, and academic collaboration in a dynamic and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outpatient cardiology care for children, including infants, adolescents, and young adults.
- Conduct inpatient consultations at regional hospitals as part of the integrated cardiology service.
- Participate in fetal cardiology, prenatal consultations, and community outreach initiatives to expand pediatric cardiology access in the South Sound.
- Collaborate with sonographers, nurses, administrative staff, and pediatric subspecialists to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain thorough documentation and adherence to clinical protocols, ensuring quality and safety in all encounters.
- Participate in quality improvement projects and ongoing professional development within the Heart Center.
- Help grow and strengthen the regional cardiology program, fostering community relationships and family trust.
- Provide education and mentorship to learners and clinical staff when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology.
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice medicine in the State of Washington.
- Federal DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and patient-centered care skills.
- Ability to thrive in both independent and team-based practice settings.
- Preferred: Experience in fetal cardiology, regional outreach, or program development.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Full-time role based in Tacoma, Washington, with outreach to surrounding South Sound communities.
- Primarily outpatient practice with inpatient consultations at local partner hospitals.
- Supported by a multidisciplinary Heart Center with access to pediatric subspecialists and academic resources.
- Balanced blend of community-based autonomy and institutional collaboration.
