Chief Medical Officer -The James Comprehensive Cancer Center

The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (The James) is seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead its medical staff and ensure top-tier patient care. Reporting to the CEO, the CMO will collaborate with senior leadership to elevate The James nationally, address healthcare regulatory challenges, and strengthen ties with OSUWMC, the College of Medicine, OSUCCC, and other university entities on clinical and medical staff matters.

Primary Responsibilities:

·         Champion innovation, inclusive leadership, and excellence across the clinical enterprise

·         Shape and promote the medical affairs strategy in collaboration with cancer program leaders

·         Uphold physician accountability to compliance, professionalism, and clinical standards

·         Drive top-tier patient safety, quality, and experience across care settings

·         Advance value-based care to improve outcomes and optimize resources

·         Lead associate CMOs and medical directors within The James

·         Partner with OSUWMC chairs on physician recruitment and program development

·         Monitor and address physician morale, performance, and wellness

·         Represent The James across institutional and national cancer program platforms

Qualifications:

·         Medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent) with US Board certification

·         Eligible for medical licensure in Ohio

·         At least 10 years of oncology clinical experience and progressive leadership in a cancer care setting

·         Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to inspire, build consensus, and lead through change

·         Strong grasp of healthcare quality, safety metrics, and regulatory standards

·         Demonstrated success in fostering research communities and supporting investigator career growth

·         Knowledge of physician recruitment, retention, and wellness best practices

·         Experience developing innovative clinical education programs, including CME

·         Flexible, growth-oriented mindset with initiative to tackle complex challenges

·         Proven track record of upholding physician accountability and professionalism

·         Current knowledge of cancer care trends to guide strategic and operational decisions
