Valley Medical Group

Valley Medical Group (VMG) is partnering exclusively with Avoca Search to find a forward-thinking physician leader to serve as Associate Chair of Oncology Services and Director of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Based in northern New Jersey, VMG is part of Valley Health System, one of the region’s most respected healthcare networks. The system includes a 370-bed acute care hospital, a large multispecialty medical group with 500+ clinicians, and Valley Home Care.

In 2015, Valley joined forces with Mount Sinai Health System to create Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care (VMSCCC), a robust, community-based cancer program located on Valley’s 40-acre campus. The cancer center includes ambulatory surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion, and radiation therapy. It’s home to 19 physicians and 15 APPs and holds full cancer program accreditation.

About the Role

The Associate Chair will work alongside the Chair to guide the strategic direction and daily operations of VMSCCC. This includes collaborating with both Valley and Mount Sinai leadership to grow programs, support research and education, and expand community engagement.

You’ll work closely with the Quality Department to maintain CoC and NAPBC accreditation, serve as a voting member of the VMG Executive Committee, and sit on the Valley Hospital’s Oncology Service Line Executive Committee.

As Director of Hematology and Medical Oncology, you'll lead the QOPI-accredited practice and oversee both inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology services. You’ll also play a key role in developing the system’s new Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, which is set to welcome its first fellows in 2026.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced oncology physician with strong leadership skills and a track record of advancing cancer programs. Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Board certification in hematology and/or medical oncology
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience
  • Clinical experience in oncology and a desire to stay involved in patient care
  • Background in clinical research, trials, and publications
  • An MD or DO (Master’s in healthcare leadership, public health, or related field preferred)

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the future of oncology care within a respected system, while building a lasting academic and clinical footprint.
