Duke University Health System is seeking a highly motivated and expert Advanced Practice Provider to join our dynamic Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) team. This role provides specialized, direct patient care for complex, critically ill cardiothoracic surgery and advanced heart failure patients in a collaborative environment at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

We seek a PA-C (or ACNP/AGACNP-certified NP) with at least 1 year of experience in an adult high-acuity critical care/CTICU setting or a Critical Care Fellowship. New grads with a CTICU rotation will be considered. We're looking for an APP who thrives in a high acuity setting with the necessary credentials and experience.

You will function as a vital member of the critical care team, working in collaboration with cardiac anesthesiology, CTICU intensivists, and under the supervision of cardiothoracic surgeons and the Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Clinical Management: Comprehensive care, including physical exams, data documentation, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and prescribing interventions and medications.
• Procedural Expertise: Perform a wide array of high-acuity procedures critical to managing the CTICU patient population.
• Collaborative Rounding: Participate in daily rounds with attending physicians, intensivists, residents, and fellows.
• Care Coordination: Coordinate the care of complex patients, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in the development of patient care pathways, protocols, and guidelines to enhance medical care efficiency and effectiveness.
