Associate Director of Trauma with Direct Pathway to TMD

A nationally recognized Level 1 Academic Trauma Center serving the second-largest trauma catchment area in the United States seeks an accomplished trauma surgeon for a succession-planned Associate Trauma Medical Director position with a clearly defined 2–3-year pathway to Trauma Medical Director.

This is a rare leadership opportunity in the Mountain West that combines clinical excellence, academic involvement, and executive development with a focus on Quality Improvement and innovation within Trauma Care Delivery.

Opportunity Highlights:

• Lead division consisting of multi-surgeon practice, APP support, and an established standard of excellence (30% below national average of risk-adjusted mortality rate).
• Serve as Performance Improvement Director and lead initiatives on the frontier of innovation in Trauma Care Delivery on a massive scale (2nd largest Catchment Area in the US).
• Mentored progression through directorship with clear advancement criteria. Support structure includes previous TMD and Chair of Surgery.
• Lead initiatives in QI protocols, outcomes research, and resident/fellow mentorship

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Performance Improvement Director
• Lead quarterly PI meetings and protocol development
• Collaborate with surgical subspecialties and interdisciplinary teams
• Shape trauma systems delivery and regional care coordination
• Leverage outcomes and clinical results for academic publication
• Participate in education of residents and fellows
• Maintain active clinical practice (275-300 cases annually)
