Job Summary:
Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a skilled and collaborative Pediatric Infectious Disease Physician to join its Division of Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis and management of pediatric infectious diseases, including complex, recurrent, and rare infections. This role includes outpatient and consultative care, participation in quality improvement initiatives, educational involvement, and contributions to infection prevention and control programs. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert consultation in the diagnosis and management of pediatric infectious diseases • Manage complex, recurrent, rare, or treatment-resistant infections in children • Conduct comprehensive outpatient follow-up care for patients post-hospitalization • Evaluate and treat conditions such as prolonged or recurrent fevers, Lyme disease, MRSA, and other infections • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice • Engage in clinical research activities alongside affiliated research institutes • Play an integral role in the hospital’s infection prevention and control program • Educate and mentor medical students and residents • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation • Adhere to hospital policies and comply with state and federal regulations
Qualifications:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Infectious Disease • Ability to obtain a medical license and DEA license in the state of Ohio • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills • Commitment to family-centered care and collaborative practice
Work Environment & Schedule:
• Full-time physician position in pediatric infectious disease specialty • Collaborative work environment with a team of experienced ID physicians • Opportunity for academic appointment and involvement in medical education • Combined outpatient and consultative practice setting
