The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine is recruiting a full-time board certified/board eligible general pediatrician or board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with strong clinical skills and an interest in academic medicine. The candidate will participate in clinical, educational, and quality improvement initiatives within the Division. Mastery of skills such as professionalism, team-based care, care of children with medical complexity, and effective communication are mandatory.
The Division is made up of greater than 40 physicians and 6 hospital medicine fellows. Physicians in the Division hold a wide variety of leadership roles throughout the institution, including in the areas of Graduate Medical Education, Medical Administration, Medical Informatics, Performance Improvement, and the Center for Wellbeing. Our division supports the individual professional desires of each partner while supporting the wellbeing of each of our team members.
The clinical practice is primarily at our tertiary care facility described below. There will be additional opportunities to work at our CMH community site, which is also included below.
Children’s Mercy Hospital is an urban, tertiary care/academic children’s hospital with full pediatric medical/surgical support. Our faculty provides two distinct types of clinical service:
- 24/7 direct care on a hospitalist-only team comprised of medically complex and diverse general pediatric patients. Fellows, medical students, and residents on elective may be part of the team.
- Attending supervision of academic teams of residents and students. The supervision of residents on academic teams is restricted to board certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalists.
