Banner University Medicine Center - University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (BUMC-UACOMP) is seeking a dynamic and visionary academic leader to serve as Section Chief-Motility Center within our Division of Gastroenterology/Hepatology. This academic health science center offers a culture of collegiality and robust infrastructure supporting translational research and preparation of the next generation of physicians. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished physician-scientist or clinical leader to shape the future of Motility care, drive innovative clinical research, and mentor the next generation of academic gastroenterologists.

The Section Chief of the Motility will play a critical leadership role, overseeing clinical, administrative, research, and educational activities related to gastrointestinal (GI) motility disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Motility program, including clinical operations, research initiatives, and educational programs.
  • Develop and expand a multidisciplinary, patient-centered Motility care model.
  • Lead and grow a robust clinical research program with support from institutional infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior faculty, fellows, and trainees in clinical practice, academic development, and research.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across specialties including nutrition, surgery, pathology, and radiology to ensure integrated care.
  • Maintain active clinical practice in Motility/Swallowing Disorders.
  • Collaborate with Division Chief of Gastroenterology/Hepatology to identify strategic planning

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with board certification in Gastroenterology.
  • Eligible for licensure in AZ
  • Established track record of excellence in Motility clinical care and academic scholarship.
  • Strong record of clinical research and/or translational research in Motility.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and a commitment to mentorship and team development.
  • Eligibility for appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading clinical trials or translational research programs.
  • Additional training or fellowship in Neuro-gastroenterology/Motility.
