NEONATOLOGY NURSE PRACTITIONER | LYNCHBURG, VA

Centra Health is seeking a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our respected Level III NICU team at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-performing, mission-driven unit known for exceptional outcomes, with an upcoming NICU expansion featuring modern couplet care rooms.

We’re looking for a collaborative, team-oriented clinician committed to family-centered neonatal care in a high-acuity environment.

What to Expect

• Schedule: 0.90 clinical FTE; 24-hour shifts (1,728 hours/year)
• Team Model: 1 Neonatologist + 1 NNP per shift
• NNPs lead daily rounds; neonatologists support assessments and care planning
• Supported by experienced nurses, respiratory therapists, lactation consultants, and multidisciplinary partners
• Unit: 13 licensed beds (4 pods); average census 10–13
• Acuity: Level III (B) — 26 weeks and up; ventilation; no onsite surgery
• Caseload: Broad neonatal conditions, delivery room coverage for high-risk infants; ~2,600 annual deliveries
• Close collaboration with neonatologists, pediatric subspecialists, OB/GYN, MFM, and full NICU team

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate in Nursing with NNP certification
• National board certification as an NNP
• Current or eligible VA NP license
• Level III or IV NICU experience preferred; strong NICU RN new grads considered
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, teamwork, and high-quality neonatal care
