Job Duties:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine offers a unique opportunity for a Cardiologist to join a dynamic academic program, with opportunities to create a unique clinical practice and engage in teaching and clinical research at a world-class university.
UW Madison offers outstanding clinical facilities and laboratories offering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, a full complement of structural heart disease procedures (ASD/PFO closure, mitral repair, TAVR), as well as both pre-clinical and clinical investigational device research. The position will entail a presence at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics locations in Madison and at our partner community-based hospital, Unity Point Health - Meriter.

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors (does not pertain to physicians/providers who work with minors): This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and repeated every four years.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Clinical Professor or Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor or Professor (CHS) or Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.

Candidates who demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, will be given be given first consideration
Required Qualifications:

WI medical license by start date of position.

ABIM Board-certified or board eligible in cardiology by start date of position.

Completion of a US internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship by the start date of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Skills and prior experience in preventive cardiology are preferred. Board certifications in Clinical Lipidology, Hypertension, and/or Obesity Medicine are highly desirable.

Additionally, the candidate will have training in nuclear cardiology or echocardiography, a strong clinical background in preventive cardiology and clinical cardiology, as well as demonstrated excellence in patient care and teaching, and a commitment to scholarly achievement. For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on Clinical or CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the Clinical or CHS Track.
Education:
MD or DO, or equivalent is required
