Location: Augusta, Maine Schedule: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | Day Shift | Occasional On-Call Rotation Position Type: Contract or Permanent (based on availability and candidate preference)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join an interdisciplinary anesthesia care team at a federal medical facility in Augusta, ME. The ideal candidate will deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered anesthesia services across a variety of surgical and procedural settings.
The CRNA will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality perioperative care to a diverse adult patient population, including veterans with complex comorbidities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical assessments
- Develop individualized anesthesia care plans and obtain informed consent
- Administer general, regional, monitored anesthesia care (MAC), and local anesthesia in accordance with facility protocols
- Monitor patients throughout procedures, ensuring optimal physiologic status and adjusting anesthesia as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record system
- Participate in post-anesthesia care and follow-up evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and uphold safety standards
- Respond to emergency situations with sound clinical judgment and rapid interventions
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education related to anesthesia and pain management
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program (Master’s or Doctoral degree)
- Must provide proof of degree (copy of diploma or official transcripts)
- Certification & Licensure:
- Current board certification or eligibility by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
- Unrestricted, active RN and APRN license with authority to practice as a CRNA in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (must be American Heart Association-approved)
- Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent and consistent experience practicing independently as a CRNA
- Strong background in general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care techniques
- Experience with adult surgical populations, ideally in a federal or hospital setting
- References:
- At least one valid professional reference verifying recent anesthesia experience and clinical competency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with veteran or military populations
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as CPRS or Cerner
- Active DEA registration (if prescriptive authority is required for the role)
- Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and communication skills
Additional Details:
