Join Northside Hospital's Established GME Program as the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO)

  Northside Hospital has an established ACGME accredited GME Program consisting of Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Transitional Year and Sports Medicine programs.

Occupational Summary The Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) is responsible for the oversight and administration of all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited programs within Northside Hospital Gwinnett. The DIO collaborates with the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) to ensure compliance with ACGME Institutional, Common, specialty-subspecialty-specific Program, and Recognition Requirements.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure ACGME accreditation compliance for all residency and fellowship programs.
  2. Serve as a liaison between the institution, faculty, residents, and external regulatory bodies.
  3. Oversee program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  4. Maintain financial oversight of GME programs, ensuring sustainability.
  5. Lead strategic planning for medical education initiatives.
  6. Monitor resident performance and faculty development.
  7. Participate in Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) meetings.
  8. Ensure adherence to institutional policies and healthcare regulations.
  9. Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area.

  Candidate Qualifications (Required)

  • MD/DO
  • GME leadership experience (Program Director and/or Associate Program Director Experience)
  • Strong strategic planning, financial analysis, and leadership skills
  • Experience in faculty development and program evaluation
  • Extensive experience in Graduate Medical Education (GME) administration
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills in a medical education setting
  • Ability to manage high-level institutional oversight and governance
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine 
  • Academic and/or Community Hospital Background

Candidate Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Prior experience as a DIO or GME Administrator
  • Familiarity with electronic residency management systems
  • Active participation in national medical education organizations
  • Masters in Education (and/or any Masters Degree)
