Gastroenterology - Physician – Exciting Opportunity in Springfield, MA

Shift Notes: Fri 4PM-Fri 4PM Weekend Requirements: N/A On Call Requirements: As needed

Job Description:

• Practice Setting: Inpatient --Call Structure at MMC approx 1:4 //Fri 4pm-Fri 4pm//Floor/ED/ICU/emergent consults and endoscopies (when needed) --Carry Beeper overnight--Outpatient-TBD and will know more early next week
• Reason for Coverage: Retirement
• Dates of Coverage: Start mid Dec 2025 until we find perm placement physician
• Clinical Areas: Adult, Hospital, Gastro, endoscopy
• Onsite Lab? Yes
• Onsite X-Ray? Yes
• Will Outpatient Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine be Required? No
• Average Number of Office/Clinic Patients Per Locum Per Day: unknown at this time if outpt coverage is required-will amend as soon as i know
• Average Number of Hospital Based Patients Per Locum Per Day: 4-12 per day
• How Many Physicians in Your Group? 4
• Average Number of Patients Per Day: 4-12 per day
• Documentation System/EMR: EPIC
• Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: Start in mid to late December
• EUS/ERCP - NOT REQUIRED

Required Procedures:

• Esophageal Dilatation/Manometry
• Esophageal Manometry Interpretation
• Small Bowel Biopsy
• Lower GI Endoscopy
• Sigmoidoscopy
• Colonoscopy
• Liver Biopsy

Required Types of Upper GI Endoscopy:

• with Biopsy
• with Foreign Body Removal
• with Fulguration of Bleeder (Cautery vs. Laser)
• with Injection of Varices
• with Banding of Varices
• Diagnostic
• Therapeutic
• with PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

Requirements

• Board Certified/Board Eligible - [REQUIRED] BC preferred
• ACTIVE MA LICSENSE - [REQUIRED]
• No outpatient expectations
• BLS - [REQUIRED]
• ERCP certification is a nice to have but not a must - [NICE TO HAVE]
