Staff Neurologist

G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center – Jackson, MS

Aptive is seeking a full-time Staff Neurologist to provide comprehensive outpatient neurological care to Veterans in a well-supported, mission-driven VA practice.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive neurologic evaluations, examinations, and follow-up visits
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing, including EEG, EMG/NCS, laboratory studies, and imaging
  • Manage chronic neurologic conditions such as migraines, seizure disorders, neuropathy, neurovascular disease, and other conditions common among Veterans
  • Provide patient counseling and shared decision-making regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and medication management
  • Perform neurologic procedures as credentialed (e.g., Botox injections, lumbar puncture, EMG/NCS, EEG interpretation)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including internal medicine, pain management, behavioral health, and rehabilitation
  • Document care accurately using VA electronic health systems (training provided)
  • Participate in clinic workflow optimization and quality improvement initiatives

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
  • Call: Shared call rotation for inpatient consults and urgent procedures (nights/weekends as scheduled)
  • Support: Collaborative nursing and administrative staff

Compensation & Benefits

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited U.S. medical school
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency program (required)
  • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Eligibility for federal DEA registration
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Strong communication skills with a patient-centered approach to care
