    Penn State Health Heart and Vascular Institute is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant (PA) or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) to join our Cardiac Surgery team at Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, PA, with potential coverage at Hershey Medical Center as needed.

    This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will function as an integral member of the cardiac surgery team, providing first-assist surgical support and comprehensive preoperative and postoperative patient care. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing cardiac surgery patients and demonstrated proficiency in endovascular vein harvesting. This role requires strong clinical judgment, technical expertise, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-acuity surgical environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide first-assist support in cardiac surgical procedures

    • Perform endovascular vein harvest with demonstrated proficiency

    • Conduct comprehensive preoperative and postoperative assessments

    • Interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging to guide treatment plans

    • Coordinate patient referrals and collaborate closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams

    • Monitor patient progress and manage postoperative complications

    • Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record

    • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program OR

    Baccalaureate or higher degree program meeting licensure requirements for Nurse Practitioners in the state of employment

    • National Certification (or certification in another state with reciprocity)

    • Licensure to practice in the State of Pennsylvania

    • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification (for NP candidates)

    • Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification (required for NP candidates)

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

    Required Experience & Skills:

    • Prior experience caring for cardiac surgery patient population

    • Proficiency in performing endovascular vein harvest

    • Strong clinical decision-making and surgical assisting skills

    • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    • Full-Time | 1.0 FTE

    • Day Shift

    • 10-hour shifts

    • Primary location: Camp Hill, PA (Holy Spirit Medical Center)

    • Potential coverage at Hershey Medical Center as needed

    • High-acuity cardiac surgery setting within a leading Heart & Vascular Institute
