Job Highlights
The Tele-Pulmonologist provides expert, real-time virtual pulmonary and critical care consultations for hospitalized and ICU patients through advanced telemedicine platforms. In close collaboration with on-site teams, you will help manage complex respiratory conditions, ensuring evidence-based interventions and continuity of care. Applying your clinical expertise, you will evaluate, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions, support ICU teams, and drive excellence in respiratory care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tele-pulmonary consults for ICU, step-down, and inpatient medical units
- Evaluate and manage patients with complex respiratory and pulmonary issues, including ARDS, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism, and ventilator management
- Guide bedside teams on non-invasive and invasive ventilation strategies
- Collaborate with ICU teams to support critical care management plans
- Participate in virtual rounds, documentation, and clinical escalation processes
- Leverage EMR systems and remote monitoring tools to deliver timely, high-quality care
- Support multidisciplinary clinical pathways and care protocols
Requirements:
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Pulmonary Disease
- Critical Care Medicine Board certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain multi-state licensure as required
- Strong clinical decision-making skills in high-acuity pulmonary and critical care settings
- Proficiency with EMR platforms and virtual communication tools
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Reliable high-speed internet and appropriate telework setup
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills with cross-functional care teams
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in ventilator management, respiratory failure, and advanced pulmonary diagnostics
- Familiarity with tele-ICU platforms and remote monitoring technologies
- Strong triage skills in high-volume consult environments
- Excellent clinical documentation and follow-up communication
- Competency in interpreting imaging and labs related to pulmonary diagnostics
- Dedication to evidence-based, patient-centered care
Education:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completed residency in Internal Medicine
- Fellowship training in Pulmonary and/or Critical Care Medicine
- Active medical licensure or eligibility in applicable states
