  • Job Summary:

    The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) invites applications for a Pulmonologist / Staff Physician to join our community-based team at Moorland Reserve Health Center in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

    This opportunity offers an exceptional balance of clinical practice, teaching, and professional growth in a collaborative, academic environment. The position primarily focuses on outpatient and consultative pulmonary medicine with the potential for inpatient and ICU responsibilities at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Participate in optional inpatient consults and ICU management with virtual nocturnal ICU support minimizing after-hours burden.
    • Perform procedures such as thoracentesis, intubations, and central line placement (optional).
    • Collaborate closely with hospitalists for shared ICU care and continuity of patient management.
    • Engage in VA-based clinical activities including clinics, ICU service, and pulmonary consult weeks as assigned.
    • Utilize an on-site Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) lab and sleep center.
    • Participate in student and resident teaching through MCW’s academic mission.

    Qualifications (Required):

    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (ABIM).
    • Eligible for unrestricted Wisconsin medical licensure.
    • Demonstrated clinical excellence and patient-centered care philosophy.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to MCW’s academic and service missions.

    Qualifications (Preferred):

    • Sleep medicine training or interest in sleep disorders (not required).
    • Prior academic or community-based teaching experience.

    Work Environment & Schedule

    • Primarily outpatient-focused role based at Moorland Reserve Health Center in New Berlin, WI, with potential for shared responsibilities at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
    • Modest office hours that promote a sustainable work-life balance.
    • Call rotation of 1:4 with weekend coverage; hospitalist teams provide ICU co-management and virtual nocturnal ICU support, resulting in limited after-hours responsibilities.
    • Opportunity to perform or supervise procedures such as intubations, central line placement, and thoracentesis (optional).
    • On-site Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) lab and sleep center, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
