Plastic Surgery, Reconstructive Microsurgeon - Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (CHS/CT)

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Clinical
    • This position will support The Division in its effort to maintain and grow an existing busy microsurgical practice including breast reconstruction, lymphatic surgery, lower extremity reconstruction, and reconstruction of the abdominal wall and trunk.
    • Elective and emergency surgical practice will be based primarily at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics with a focus on adult microsurgery and general reconstructive surgery.
    • Call responsibilities for plastic surgery patients will be shared with divisional colleagues.
  • Service and Teaching:
    • Time dedicated to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows will be equal to a minimum of 5%.
    • Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.
    • An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
  • Research and Scholarly Pursuit
    • An interest in global surgery/global health is essential. The successful candidate will be critical to a program which focuses on building sustainable surgical care through global surgery teaching.
    • The selected finalist will be expected to contribute to the academic mission of research (e.g., basic and translational, outcomes or health services research).
    • Adjustments to dedicated percentages of time can be made based on the selected finalists' funding needs and programmatic needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Wisconsin Medical License by appointment start date.
  • Board certification or Board Eligible in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent by the appointment start date
  • Completion of Plastic and Reconstructive Residency training and fellowship training in Microvascular Surgery is required by the start date
  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by appointment start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.
  • For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

Education:

  • MD or DO, or equivalent required
