Internal Medicine Residency Program · Nashville, TN
Residents in the Vanderbilt Internal Medicine Residency Program currently train at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and at the on-campus Nashville VA Hospital. VUMC is the largest academic tertiary center in our region, which includes a catchment area of nearly 5 million people. Our mission is to train future leaders in academic medicine who will improve the human condition through the practice of medicine, research, education, and service. In both outpatient and inpatient settings, Vanderbilt residents care for a diverse group of patients with complex medical conditions in a supportive environment that emphasizes resident autonomy, bedside teaching, science, and a physiology-based approach to medicine. Taking advantage of our vast on-campus resources, our program emphasizes a personal approach to each resident’s training, providing opportunities to concentrate in primary care, medical discovery, population health, global health, and medical teaching.
