The Harvard Ophthalmology Residency Training Program at Mass. Eye and Ear strives to train leaders in ophthalmology and medicine. Our residents receive superb clinical training from the largest Ophthalmology faculty in the country, in all subspecialties and have the opportunity to learn at some of the nation’s best hospitals, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Mass General Hospital, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, as well as a VA Hospital. Residents see diverse pathology from across the world in our 24/7 Ophthalmic Emergency Department, and 95% of residents over the past 5 years pursue subspecialty fellowship training, usually in their first-choice program. All residents participate in research with world-renowned faculty, with protected time in the PGY-3 and PGY-4 years for both research and international electives. Residents are supported by the Program Directors, a faculty level Chief Resident, an accessible faculty, and a Wellness Committee.
