The anesthesia residency at Heart of Lancaster is unique in several ways. This community based program is ideal for the mature applicant interested in learning to become proficient in all aspects of anesthesia care. Due to our size, each resident is afforded ample opportunity to progress at an appropriate rate with individual faculty mentorship. Our faculty spend a great deal of time in a 'one on one' resident setting. The presence of CRNA's provides each resident the experience of team based anesthesia. The private practice model allows the residents to learn how to manage cases in a safe and efficient manner. A great deal of time is spent with outpatient surgical cases. The outside rotations at Hershey Medical Center, Lancaster Regional , and Pinnacle Health provide a tertiary care experience and gives the residents an opportunity to work under multiple physicians and interact with residents from other anesthesia programs. Our program is well suited for the resident interested in clinical proficiency, indepence, and leadership development. At the conclusion of the program our graduates have a long history of successfully entering private practice.
