Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program · Pittsburgh, PA
Founded in 1909, the UPMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is a national leader in education, research, & patient care. Today, under the leadership of Dr. MaCalus V. Hogan, MBA, our Residency program is ranked in the Top Ten of Orthopaedic Surgery Residencies in the country and maintains international acclaim for developing recognized leaders in orthopaedics. Our faculty are committed to providing excellence in clinical care, an in-depth exposure to all orthopaedic subspecialties, & cooperative participation in innovative research. Since UPMC is a major referral center, residents are exposed to a broad range of musculoskeletal diseases & clinically difficult cases in a diverse patient population. UPMC Orthopaedic Surgery is one of only a few residencies in the US to offer a dedicated research year, and we are leading the development of novel treatment modalities with the Orland Bethel Family Musculoskeletal Research Center (BMRC). The BMRC will enable and highlight the study of musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoporosis, degenerative arthritis, fragility fractures and spinal pathology.
