Summary

  • I am very honored to have joined the Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, and Akron Children’s Hospital as a member of the congenital heart team as a congenital heart surgeon.

I have been serving as the surgical lead for Heart Care International, which I joined in 2005. Over the past year and halve, I have devoted my time to coordinating mission trips to El Salvador, Peru and Mexico. My responsibilities included organizing the teams, coordinating care and most importantly performing a wide variety of surgeries from newborns to adults with congenital heart disease. Are primary focus is to improve the access of care for all patients with congenital heart disease by helping the local teams become more proficient at caring for them.

I was the Co-Director of the Congenital Heart Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Chief of the Division of Congenital Heart Surgery. During my time at Cedars-Sinai we were a two-star program with overall mortality of 3.1%, providing care to all congenital heart patients. Prior to coming to Cedars-Sinai, I was Surgical Director, Heart Transplantation and Adult Congenital Heart Disease at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

I am board-certified in Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and Congenital Heart Surgery. My clinical interests are in congenital heart disease, including adult congenital heart disease. Also, I am interested in developing novel approaches to treating congenital heart disease.

My previous positions have given me extensive experience in all aspects of congenital heart surgery from neonatal surgery to adults with congenital heart disease including mechanical support, ECMO and heart transplantation. I have operated on nearly 5000 patients all over the world and I am honored to have been able to help most of them. It is a great privilege to be able to care for patients with congenital heart disease, and their families.
