  • Physician-scientist; board certified internist and infectologist.

    Research Interests: Humoral and cellular immune responses (adaptive immunity) to organisms causing neglected tropical infectious diseases including Plasmodium (malaria), Leptospira, Mycobacteria (including NTM), Burkholderia psuedomallei (melioidosis) through novel techniques.

    Clinical Interests:
    -Non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease (both pulmonary and extra-pulmonary); current Clinical trials at Tampa VA.
    -The application of microbiology and immunology by trainees in the setting of improving infection outcomes at large academic medical centers using therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM); a method for improving antibiotic stewardship program (ASP) mandates.
    -Neglected tropical diseases and travel medicine.
    -Primary and secondary immunodeficiencies.
  • Florida is a hot spot for a stubborn lung disease akin to tuberculosis
