    He graduated from Georgetown University Medical School and completed a Surgical Internship and Residency at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. He then completed Clinical Fellowships in Surgical Critical Care, Trauma, Burn, and Acute Care Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is a former Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Vanderbilt.

    Dr. Armstrong currently serves in the United States Air Force C-STARS (Center for Trauma Sustainment and Readiness Skills) program. He has deployed to Afghanistan as the Trauma Czar (Trauma Medical Director) at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Air Field: the busiest trauma/critical care hospital in the DoD. Dr. Armstrong is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at both SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis Barnes-Jewish Hospital performing General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, and Critical Care.
