    Dr. Armstrong serves in the United States Air Force. He is a former instructor for the Center for Trauma Sustainment and Readiness Skills (CSTARS) program in St. Louis. He deployed to Afghanistan as the Trauma Czar (Trauma Medical Director) at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram Air Field in 2019. In 2024 he was appointed Trauma Medical Director for US Central Command.
