Summary
- I am a board certified internist specializing in perioperative medicine including preopertive risk assessment and optimization and postoperative medical care. This includes reviewing the medical history, performing a physical exam, and ordering any further testing needed to clarify the patients current health status to determine the medical risk of surgery. For elective surgery I then determine any treatments that could make the surgery safer prior to proceeding to the operating room. Patients are provided with written instructions for all medications the week prior to surgery. This approach has been shown to greatly decrease day of surgery cancellations and decrease risk of morbidity and mortality.
