  • I am boarded through the American Board of Neurology & Psychiatry, the American Board of Integrative & Holistic Medicine, and the American Board of Integrative Medicine. I have worked in a number of different clinical settings in the US and New Zealand, including mental health primary care, psychiatric rehabilitation, assertive community outreach, community mental health, private practice, multi-specialty group practice, academic and VA.

    I currently work in Primary Care Mental Health Integration at Seattle VA, I have a 0.2 appointment as a Whole Health Education Champion with the national VA Office of Patient Centered Care & Cultural Transformation, and I am an Assistant Professor at University of Washington.

    I only work clinically with veterans enrolled through Seattle VA.

    I am the author of five books:

    1) Re-humanizing Medicine: A Holistic Framework for Transforming Your Self, Your Practice, and the Culture of Medicine was released 2014.

    2) Walking the Medicine Wheel: Healing Trauma & PTSD, was co-authored with Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow), published 2016 and has been translated into Vietnamese.

    3) Becoming Medicine: Pathways of Initiation into a Living Spirituality (2020) co-authored with Joseph Rael (Beautiful Painted Arrow).

    4) Becoming Who You Are: Beautiful Painted Arrow's Life & Lessons for Children Ages 10-100, co-authored with Joseph Rael (2021) - winner of Paterson Prize for Books for Young People
