  • Dr. Earl Stewart, Jr., a 2009 alumnus of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Latin (Cum Laude), earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College’s School of Medicine and completed residency training in Categorical Internal Medicine at Brown University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a recipient of numerous awards, including Georgia Trend Top Doctor in 2021 and the 2022 40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health by the National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF). Dr. Stewart is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and currently practices with the Wellstar Health System in Atlanta, Georgia, and is Medical Director of Health Equity for the health system. In this role, Dr. Stewart works closely with the health system’s executive leadership, medical staff, and nursing staff to develop and implement strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout Wellstar. This position provides for direct reporting to the Vice President of Population Health and the Senior Vice President, Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, driving initiatives that enhance patient experience, cultural competency, employee engagement, and community partnerships. In addition to serving as a 2023 Climate and Health Equity Fellow (CHEF) with the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health, he was also recently a 2023 Doximity Digital Health Fellow.
