John Di Capua, M.D. serves on the Board of Directors for Melville, NY-based North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), a leading single specialty anesthesia and perioperative management company in the United States. Dr. Di Capua also serves as the CEO for NAPA Management Services Corporation (NMSC).
Board certified in anesthesia and pain management, Dr. Di Capua joined the North Shore –LIJ Health System in 1994 where he sits as the Peter F. R. Walker Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at the recently opened Hofstra-NSLIJ School of Medicine, North Shore University Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and The Cohen Children’s Medical Center. In 2006 Dr. Di Capua became the Senior Vice President of Anesthesia Services for the North Shore LIJ Health System. As the Chief Executive Officer of NMSC, Dr. Di Capua supervises over 1,500 anesthesia providers at 71 hospitals in 9 states, covering over 700,000 Anesthesia cases per year.
Dr. Di Capua trained in anesthesiology at The Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by fellowships in pain management and cardiothoracic anesthesia. He was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School for a year before joining the North Shore – LIJ Health System. He is integrally involved in the issues of perioperative operational management, clinical staffing models and lectures nationally on how anesthesia departments can provide quality and operational value to hospitals.
