Dr. Carbone has served on the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and for many years, up to and including the present, the faculties of New York Medical College School of Medicine and of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also currently serves on the faculty of the New York Medical College School of Health Science and Practice in its Institute of Public Health.
Dr. Carbone is the Director of Neurology and Medical Director of Adult Health Services at the Westchester Institute for Human Development, an Academic Center of Excellence for the multidisciplinary care of adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disorders.
Dr. Carbone's experience extends to general neurology and psychiatry, consultation-liaison and geriatric psychiatry, neurorehabilitation, and neurodevelopmental behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Carbone's current diagnostic areas of special focus include ID/D, autism, epilepsy, and dementia.
He is skilled in the use of multiple treatment modalities including pharmacotherapy, neuromodulation, and psychotherapy.
As a Clinician-Educator he is currently focusing on remediation of medical learners.
Dr. Carbone has received several awards for his work and has researched and written on topics including neuroleptic malignant and serotonin syndromes and affective disorders in the setting of cardiac illness.
