Summary
- Dr Yip is the Head of the Rheumatology Department at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. He had completed the competitive two year North Central Thames London Foundation residency program in the UK before pursing more training in the USA. He finished his fellowship in Rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) / New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell and Internal Medicine residency training at New York University (NYU); Dr Yip is double board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology.
Teaching, quality improvement and research is something Dr Yip has a keen passion for and this has been recognised on multiple levels; winning numerous awards with projects presented/published both nationally and internationally.
His areas of rheumatological interest include the role of asymptomatic hyperuricemia/gout in metabolic diseases along with lupus research into APOL1 and its relationship with avascular necrosis in the African American population. At this time Dr Yip is investigating how rheumatoid arthritis impacts the daily lives of his patients and also the adverse events of glucocorticoid (steroid) use. He is actively involved in the OMERACT initiative (an international network of medical professionals) that helps steer rheumatological research worldwide and was part of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) group that has developed the new guidelines for total hip and knee surgeries for osteoarthritis.
