• Marcos A. Vargas, MHA, PA-C, is an NCCPA-certified Physician Associate. He completed his Physician Assistant education and surgical clinical training in 1988 at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2003, he obtained a Master of Science with a focus on Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University. He was employed at Hurley Medical Center Level I Trauma Center since 1995, initially as an Emergency Department PA for 11.5 years, followed by a 14.5-year stint as an orthopedic PA/trauma clinical care practitioner until July 2024. He was also the 1st Physician Extender to serve as a hybrid surgical PA covering Plastic & Oncologic ENT surgical services departments during the initial phase of programs being introduced to the Genesee County area while serving as a liaison & preceptor to medical/NP/PA students and residents in training at Hurley Medical Center. In addition, he assisted and facilitated the smooth transition of the newly hired intradepartmental permanent personnel who finally became team members for continued development. He also taught as an adjunct faculty member at Davenport University & Detroit (Mercy) PA University program while serving as a MAPA board of directors.
