  • Dr. P. David Adelson, MD, is Vice Chair of the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and Executive Director of the WVU Medicine Children's Neurosciences Center.
    He was previously the Diane and Bruce Halle Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences and Chief, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital, Phoenix, Arizona. He also served as Professor of Neurosurgery, Mayo Clinic, Professor and Chief, Neurological Surgery, Department of Child Health, University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, Professor, Neurological Surgery, Creighton University School of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor, Ira A. Fulton School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering, Arizona State University. He is considered one of the authorities in Pediatric Neurosurgery, with specialization in epilepsy surgery, traumatic brain/ neural Injury, and peripheral nerve surgery. He has been invited for speak in the United States and across the world. He has published over 300 peer reviewed articles in refereed journals, authored over 45 book chapters, and edited eight books in pediatric neurosurgery and neurosciences including being co-editor of “Principles and Practice of Pediatric Neurosurgery” the authoritative textbook in the field of pediatric neurosurgery. Due to his expertise in traumatic brain injury in children, he also also been one of the invitees as an expert before a U.S. Congressional subcommittee on pediatric trauma care and policy. He has also been honored with several national and international awards including the 2016 Herbert Olivecrona Award by the Department of Clinical Neuroscience/Neurosurgery at The Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, which is considered by some to be the “Nobel Prize for Neurosurgery." He served as President of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons 2008- 2009.
