Summary

  • I am an OB/GYN resident in the Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital combined program. For my undergraduate training, I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I majored in Biology with a Sociology minor. Throughout that time, I developed a passion for global surgery and wrote my honors thesis on barriers to academic work in that field. During my first year at Harvard Medical School, I founded the Global Surgery Student Alliance (GSSA), a national non-profit organization that now has chapters at over 60 U.S. medical schools. Throughout my time with GSSA, I led projects to help engage trainees in global surgery and facilitate their development in the field, while advocating for the value of trainee contributions on a national and international scale. I later expanded on my interest in medical education by implementing a global health curriculum for Harvard medical students in their clinical year, with the hope of encouraging future physicians to view their patients in a broader context and to consider global health as a valuable part of their future work. Throughout my career, I plan to advocate for the role of OB/GYNs within global surgery and the surgical needs of women around the globe, while continuing to build on my passion for medical education and supporting the future global surgery workforce.
