Summary

  • Dr. Jain is a National Eye Institute/NIH funded clinician-scientist and is the Director of the Dry Eye and ocular GVHD clinic at University of Illinois at Chicago. He also directs the Translational Biology Laboratory in the Department. His clinical and translational research work has led to numerous publications in professional journals as well as development of drugs that are in phase I/II clinical trials. He is a member of the Editorial Board of leading Journals in Ophthalmology such as Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Ocular Surface and Scientific Reports. He has been named one of America’s Best Doctors® since 2007 and has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Achievement Award. He has received several awards and recognition, including Departmental Faculty of the Year from UIC and Physician-Scientist Award from Research to Prevent Blindness. He serves as primary mentor on NEI/NIH grants for clinician-scientist career development of junior faculty. Dr. Jain is the founder and chief scientific officer at Advaite LLC, a startup that this focused on the development of innovative pharmaceuticals and healthcare solutions. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Jain joined the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute at The Johns Hopkins University as a pre-residency fellow and completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University, New York, followed by subspecialty fellowship in Corneal Diseases at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Jain joined the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2006. He is board certified in ophthalmology.
