    Dr. Nichols has particular interest in the overlap of non-psychiatric medical illness and psychiatric symptoms, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and under-appreciated childhood psychiatric conditions in the adult population. He has developed a psychotherapy technique for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which he finds very effective in carefully selected patients. He and his wife work to improve the lives of cancer patients in Africa through collaborating in training and establishing national Psycho Oncology associations. They work to alleviate poverty and malnutrition in Central America through programs in land ownership, establishing medical, fetal/early childhood nutrition programs, and microloans for women.
