Summary

  • After training I tried being a hospital pathologist but never could get it to work out, so I became an entrepreneur in the commercial lab business, which worked out very well, indeed.

After selling my business I was invited to join the faculty at UT Southwestern to develop and teach a pathology course to allied health professionals, which I continue. This provided an opportunity to write a textbook of pathology (The Nature of Disease) and coauthor another in anatomy and physiology (Human Form, Human Function).

Having led a somewhat adventuresome and interesting life, I published a memoir, Dead Wrong: And Other Episodes from A Life in Medicine. It encompasses Parkland Hospital before JFK died there, internship in Jackson, MS when blood ran in the streets, Army duty that took me from Pentagon to White House, involvement in the JFK funeral, and assorted other tales. It continues to sell well on Amazon.

As of this writing (03/2015) I continue to teach, travel and write.
