Summary

• I am an OB Hospitalist and Residency Program Director at UC Irvine. My personal areas of interest include medical education, particularly wellness and resilience, and quality improvement.
  
  The UC Irvine Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology is a fully-accredited, four-year training program with seven approved training positions per academic year. This program offers comprehensive training in all areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We work closely with our four fellowship programs (MFM, Gyn Onc, FPMRS and OB Hospitalist) to provide exceptional opportunities to explore and gain competence in all areas of our specialty. Our graduates are consistently divided approximately in half in choosing to pursue fellowship or enter private practice, and are exceptionally well prepared to do either. Our educational culture is grounded in core beliefs in the critical importance of graduated autonomy and problem-based learning, allowing trainees to safely stretch their comfort zones and develop tools that will allow them to identify and attack any type of problem. We pride ourselves on excellence in patient care and education, and members of our program at every level are motivated to support each other in these goals. Through close mentorship with faculty and the program’s responsiveness to resident feedback, residents are engaged in optimizing their own educational experience. Our affiliated sites, which include high-volume Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente and Planned Parenthood, are thoughtfully selected to augment the tertiary care patient population and academic opportunities available here at UCI, and faculty from those sites are active members of our UCI academic community. Our locations in north Orange County and Long Beach provide natural diversity of our patient population and extensive opportunities to work with underserved and vulnerable patient populations.
