Born and raised in New Orleans, he spent most of his medical career assisting patients in his home state of Louisiana. As the youngest graduate of his medical school class, Dr. Khan was part of the prestigious Advanced (Accelerated) Medical Scholars Program at Louisiana State University of Shreveport and LSU School of Medicine. Through this program, Dr. Khan was able to obtain his Bachelors of Science (B.S.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degrees in six years at the age of just 23. Along the way, he earned numerous distinctions and honors, which includes being the recipient of multiple various scholarships, and receiving distinguished honors.
    Remaining at his alma mater for clinical training, Dr. Khan successfully completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Medical Center. At the completion of this training, he stayed at the institution to act as a Clinic Professor at its Primary Care Clinic, overseeing the work of other resident physicians. Dr. Khan then entered into a specialized surgical training program, pursuing an Ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and a Surgical Retina fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans.
    Dr. Khan has special interest in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, and vitreo-retinal interface abnormalities, such as epiretinal membranes and macular holes.
    Dr. Khan is proficient in English, Urdu and Hindi, and conversant in Spanish and Arabic.
