  • Alexis Demopoulos, MD, is a neuro-oncologist who currently serves as Director of Neuro-Oncology for the Hartford Healthcare system.

    Dr Nicholas Vick introduced him to brain tumors while a medical student at Northwestern University. He advised him to work with Dr Jerome Posner at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he spent one year in the lab of a Scientist-Physician, Dr Josep Dalmau, then completed Neurology residency at Cornell - NYP and Neuro-oncology clinical fellowship at MSKCC. With the support of the Revson Foundation, he opened a personalized dendritic cell vaccine clinical trial for patients with Glioblastoma under the tutelage of Dr Robert Darnell at Rockefeller University. Ronald Kanner hired him to create the Brain Tumor Program at North Shore University Hospital. He left once 200 newly diagnosed patients with malignant gliomas were treated there annually. He is now at Hartford Healthcare, building upon the program established in 1970 by Dr Alexandra Flowers to bring novel treatments for CT neuro-oncology patients.
