Dr. Alfred Cossari is an ophthalmologist in Port Jefferson, NY and is affiliated with Mather/Northwell Hospital where he is Chief of the Ophthalmology Service and St. Charles Hospital. He received his medical degree from La Sapienza at the University of Rome where he was involved in ophthalmic research under Prof. G.B. Bietti. At the Wilmer Institute of Johns Hopkins University he completed a Retinal Vascular Fellowship under Dr. Arnall Patz, followed by a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at the Children's National Hospital of George Washington University under Dr. Marshall Parks after a surgical internship and ophthalmology residence at the Nassau University Hospital. He has been in private practice for 48 years, speaks both English and Italian, and specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus in children and adults. In addition to caring for both children and adults, his specialty interests include the surgical and nonsurgical management of eye muscle disorders and double vision, eye disorders of infancy and childhood, dyslexia, and headache/migraine evaluations. He continues to be involved in clinical research.
