- Amanda Elliott graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in mathematics, cellular biology, and microbiology. She received her MD from the University of Michigan Medical school with honors in research. Currently she is a PGY-3 in Internal Medicine at Duke University and is applying for a fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism.
In 2007 she joined the lab of Dr David Altshuler as a Sarnoff Cardiovascular research fellow. Dr Elliott's primary focus was on statistical analysis of human genetic copy number variation in common disease. She worked with Dr Steven McCarroll on a number of projects including work with the DIAGRAM, GIANT, and MAGIC consortia. Her current work is with Drs Susan Spratt and Robert Califf to better define diabetes in a county-wide cohort as part of the SEDI (southeastern diabetes initiative) project.
As a clinician, Dr Elliott is interested in metabolic and endocrine diseases. She is currently a Fellow in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the Joslin diabetes center / Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During her residency at Duke University Medical Center she worked with Drs Susan Spratt and Thomas Weber. Dr Spratt's clinic is focused on management of diabetes and metabolic disease. Dr Weber's clinic is focused on evaluation and treatment of bone disorders.
