Summary
- I am currently focused on educating undergraduates in biomedical engineering. I was co-founder of a university interest group: TEAM Malawi: Technology-Education-Advocacy-Medicine Malawi, a transdisciplinary collaboration, based upon a community wellness model of health, designed to meet the challenges of resource-limited environments through community based participatory research/design/pedagogy.. In 2022-23, My wife, Penny Muelenaer, MD, MPH, have visited Malawi 3 times with a total of 25 students and 7 faculty from a variety of interests as we establish research and clinical relationships with the Malawi University of Science and Technology, Thyolo District Hospital, and the Mercy James Center for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care [hospital founded by Madonna]
