  • Andrea M. Spiker, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery and a dual fellowship trained, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Sports Subspecialty certified at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She specializes in Sports Medicine and Hip Preservation. She is team physician for UW Badger Athletics and provides orthopedic coverage for UW Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Her clinical interests are in the non-operative and operative treatment of all sports and athletic injuries of the hip and knee, with additional expertise in hip arthroscopy, surgical hip dislocation and periacetabular osteotomy. She has authored numerous textbook chapters, review articles, and peer-reviewed studies and has given local, regional, and national talks and presentations in the areas of sports medicine and hip preservation. She is an active member in American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), International Society for Hip Arthroscopy (ISHA), Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society, American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Emerging Leaders Forum and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS).

    Dr. Spiker received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, and prior to entering medical school worked as a speech writer for the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C. and was a Fulbright Scholar to Berlin, Germany. She then received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She then completed two fellowships at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, NY - the first in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery and the second in Hip Preservation, during which time she was a Fellow Team Physician for the NY Mets (MLB), the NY Rangers (NHL), the NY Liberty (WNBA) and St Johns University Women's Soccer.
