She completed her medical education at New York University School of Medicine and her neurology residency at Columbia/The Neurological Institute, and completed Behavioral Neurology/Neuropsychology fellowship training at the University of FL. In addition to her accomplishment as an academic administrator and leader in neurology and research (former Atlanta VA Research Center Director), she has extensive knowledge of post-acute care from her 15 years and leadership positions in the largest US inpatient rehabilitation provider, Kessler Institute/Select Medical. She is the Neurology Department Chair at UMass Memorial Health and Service Chief at Veterans Affairs Central Western Mass (Worcester). Her research and clinical expertise encompasses right brain rehabilitation of spatial neglect, Alzheimer's disease, and other cognitive disorders. She has published in most areas of cognitive neurology and neurorehabilitation and led at a national level in the American Academy of Neurology and the American Society of Neurorehabilitation. She leads clinical trials on treatments for post-stroke conditions and received numerous honors, such as the Norman Geschwind Prize and Samuel Hinkle Outstanding Junior Investigator Award.
