Summary
- Dr. Anna H Chacon is a distinguished dermatologist with a diverse and accomplished background. A Miami native, she grew up in various South Florida areas, including Pinecrest, Dadeland, and Kendall. Her academic journey began at Carrollton School for girls in Miami, where she graduated as valedictorian and was accepted into an Ivy League medical school during her senior year.
She pursued her bachelor's degree in Economics and an MD at Brown University through the combined Program in Liberal Medical Education. During her time at Brown, she was awarded a scholarship to undertake clinical clerkships at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. This opportunity was facilitated through the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion, Israel's oldest university.
Dr. Chacon further honed her skills through a fellowship in dermatologic and laser surgery at the University of Miami and a surgical internship at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She completed her dermatology residency at the LAC + USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, where she served as chief resident and gained exposure to a wide array of pathologies.
After her residency, Dr. Chacon worked at the ABC News Medical Unit in New York City as a medical journalist, where she reported on breaking medical news on a national and international scale. Her career also took her to the Asian Hospital & Medical Center and the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Manila, Philippines. Here, she worked on preventing and controlling tropical and infectious diseases in dermatology, including leprosy, Hansen's disease, and HIV.
Dr. Chacon has traveled extensively to see patients and present internationally, continually broadening her education and knowledge in dermatology. She holds active licenses in all 50 states, DC, Guam, USVI, and is board certified in Dermatology.
