  • Anthony Baldoni is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterologist at Carilion Clinic / Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and OMS Section Chief of Gastroenterology for Carilion Medical Center. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. During his residency and fellowship training he received numerous awards including: Resident Teacher of the Year, Resident of the Year, ACP Illinois Downstate Governor’s Outstanding Resident Award, and Chief Gastroenterology Fellow.

    He has special interests in medical education, teaching, and plant based nutrition. He is currently the Gastroenterology clerkship director for the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. His research interests include advanced endoscopic techniques, general gastroenterology, the gut microbiota, and hepatology. He has presented numerous abstracts and an oral presentation at Digestive Disease Week.

    He has a background in Biology with a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He worked for two years at the Hussman Institute for Human Genomics at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, where he researched the genetics of neurological diseases.
