Overview of Dr. Kumar
Dr. Arnav Kumar is a board-certified interventional cardiologist and structural heart valve specialist committed to delivering advanced care for patients with complex coronary and structural heart disease. He has extensive experience in high-risk coronary interventions, including left main PCI, Impella-assisted PCI, and chronic total occlusion (CTO) procedures.
Dr. Kumar completed advanced training in complex coronary interventions at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by a dedicated fellowship in structural and peripheral vascular interventions at the same institution. He previously completed a general cardiology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, where he developed expertise in structural transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and cardiac CT angiography.
Prior to his clinical training, Dr. Kumar completed a two-year advanced cardiac imaging research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. His research focuses on computational imaging, coronary shear stress, coronary physiology, and plaque vulnerability, utilizing advanced mathematical modeling and fluid dynamics.
Dr. Kumar has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, as well as over 100 abstracts. He serves as principal investigator on multiple clinical trials and has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious William Parmley Young Author Achievement Award from JACC, along with several young investigator and best research awards at national and international cardiology conferences.
He holds active leadership roles in professional organizations such as the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT), American Heart Association (AHA), and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). Dr. Kumar is also a regular peer reviewer for leading journals including JACC, European Heart Journal, and Atherosclerosis.
