Summary

  • I see myself as a change agent. My leadership roles in emergency services have enabled me to pursue exciting opportunities in vastly different settings from suburban USA to rural India.

I started my career as a general surgeon. I went on to specialize in trauma and reconstruction with research in wound healing. My second career in Emergency medicine was an exciting and natural evolution of my passion and talent.

In both domestic and foreign settings, I have redesigned emergency services with an emphasis on operational efficiency, financial stability, patient safety and exceptional patient care. I have enjoyed the experience of conceptualizing, designing and implementing innovative processes that touch the five major aspects of emergency medicine: pre-hospital care, emergency room care, observation units, post-acute care and outreach services.

My passion remains international emergency medicine: bringing systems, education and talent to distant shores, where it will benefit those less fortunate than us. I strive to find myself at the intersection of medicine and humanity.

Specialties: Growing and leading teams, simplifying complicated problems, making processes more efficient, redesign of electronic health records and EMRs, starting observation services, establishing countywide guidelines for stroke and heart attacks, teaching and education.
