  • Aryeh L. Pollack, MD, is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina, vitreous, and macula. He obtained his M.D. degree from Harvard University in 1995, and subsequently returned to New York , where he completed his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Ophthalmology at the Mt. Sinai Hospital of the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Dr. Pollack then completed the prestigious and extremely competitive two-year San Francisco Retina Fellowship specializing in the study of surgical and medical retina at California Pacific Medical Center, in conjunction with the Schatz practice. This fellowship provided advanced comprehensive training in modern vitreo - retinal surgical concepts and technique, as well as vast exposure to all aspects medical retina including retinal vascular disease, choroidal vascular disease and uveitis . He has been in private practice since 2002, and has since founded the New York Retina and Macula Institute in Manhattan.


    Academically, Dr. Pollack serves as clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at New York University and is a member of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Retina and Trauma service where he trains residents and fellows in the latest techniques of vitreous and retina surgery. Indeed, Dr Pollack was among the first, if not the first in NYC to both implement and teach 25 gauge or small incision vitreoretinal surgery for complex retinal detachments. Dr. Pollack is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists. He is recognized as an ophthalmological associate by Research to Prevent Blindness, Inc. for his contributions to the advancement of eye research and disease investigation. Dr. Pollack has published in major academic journals such as American Journal of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology and Retina.
